Year 1 (Mill)

Welcome to Mill Class. Mill is a year 1 class taught by Ms Ford and supported by Ms Burfield and Miss Trunks.

Everyday in school I must have...

Book bag

Reading book and diary

A water bottle

Coat

Packed lunch (unless school dinners have been booked in advance.)

On a Wednesday and Friday I should have...

My PE Kit

This should include black shorts/jogging bottoms, PE Sports top, school jumper or PE jumper and trainers.

How to support your child at home

In order to help your child reach their full potential please support them with these key areas at home:

Reading: Children should read every night for 15 minutes. This reading should be recorded in your child's reading diary. Each book your child reads will gain them half a point towards certificates and badges. Even if your child has not had time to read at home, please make sure you bring their book and diary in each day as this means we can read with them in school.

Maths: Children should be accessing Numbots 2-3 times a week to support their place value, addition and subtraction understanding. https://play.numbots.com/

Spellings: By the end of the year children should be able to spell the common exception words in the lists below. These are words that do not follow the phonetic spelling rules and must be learnt by sight. In school we call them tricky words or red words.
