School Performance

This page shows our latest performance data, which represent the hard work of our pupils, who have tried their very best, as well as the commitment and dedication to high quality teaching by all our staff.

We are very proud of the achievements of all our children at Old Cleeve First School. Many of our pupils are awarded prizes and certificates for their achievements in the local community which we believe are as equally as important as the data we see in this document.

Reception results

In reception this year 74% of our pupils achieved a good level of development in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is higher than both the Somerset county average of 68.7% and the national average of 69.3%.

Phonics test results

In Year 1 the pupils are given a test on 40 words they are expected to read. If the pupils recognise 32 out of 40 words tested they pass the test. 100% of our Year 1 pupils passed the test.

If the pupils are unsuccessful in Year 1 then they have to retake the check the following year. 62.5% of children in Year 2 who had to retake the test at Old Cleeve passed.

Year 2 KS1 National Assessment results

This year saw a change in assessment arrangements. Teachers are asked to make a judgment about whether children are at the expected standard for maths, reading and writing.

The table below shows the school’s results compared favourably to both National and local figures:
